SimCity Error 1004 The game cannot find data files necessary to run.

Hi, I just bought SimCity, installed origin and installed the game, but when I click on 'Play' button a popup window appear saying, "The game cannot find data files necessary to run. Reinstallatin maybe necessary. Error 1004"

Also when I open download status window in Origin it says 100% and "Installation complete", 268.32MB.

Same Problam, Same date. I get a black screen after with the cursor on it. but that dosen't do anything after sitting and watching it for a while It was working perfectly fine before I updated to patch 3.0. My friends can get on and I can't. It was working Perfectly up until the update. and i wish i'd made a back up and tried to ignore the update

Origin downloads the SimCity launcher which is 268MB. Then when you run this it downloads the rest of the game.

Try Uninstalling SimCity, close Origin then right click on Origin icon and select Run as Administrator. Then install SimCity again.

Done that. Still got that problam. I've run as admin. Run on a seperate user account. Still not working

Hi, I tried to uninstalled the game, restart my laptop and did as u instructed. It works! Thanks alot!

3) Seriously, UAC has been around for almost 7 years now. It should be obvious enough now how to make apps that properly work against UAC.
